development check for service and mobility

Leader Närheten has run an umbrella project with the aim of developing infrastructure and services in rural areas. The project implemented various smaller sub-projects.

About the project

UMBRELLA PROJECT

Leader Närheten has run a so-called umbrella project with the aim of achieving improved service in rural areas or developing solutions for co-distribution and commuting (mobility). In umbrella projects, external idea carriers have had the opportunity to seek support to implement a sub-project aimed at developing infrastructure and service in rural areas. Simpler administration and faster decision-making paths should make it easier for idea carriers to go from idea to action, compared to running an entire project on their own. Leader Närheten is the project owner towards the Swedish Board of Agriculture in this umbrella project and has distributed checks of a maximum of SEK 50,000 for sub-activities in Karlstad (excluding urban areas), Hammarö, Grums, Kil and Forshaga.

Five sub-activities were implemented in the project. Those that have been granted support through development checks and implemented sub-projects are:

Fagerås village farm: "Development of Fagerås village farm"”

People's House in Segmon: "Service and preparedness for crises in rural areas. Preparedness Day 2023 in Segmon"”

Borgviks local history association: ”Service point 2.0”

Skruvstad community association: "Media equipment Skruvstad community center"”

Central Sweden's People's House and park region: "The preliminary study People's House - a neighborhood office?"”

The efforts have primarily resulted in increased accessibility to services in the form of functioning premises for meetings, conferences, training, local events and leisure activities, but have also created many new networks and an increased interest in using association premises and the associations' activities in a broader perspective with more focus on service and mobility. The effort has raised the issue of service and mobility in rural areas and raised awareness of the problem and the question of various possible resource-efficient solutions among local actors such as community centers and Folkets hus associations - which we also hope will lead to further future project ideas and efforts.

Development Check for Service and Mobility is a project within the 2014-2022 programming period.
