Umbrella project right now!
Now you can apply for simpler project support:
Mini-support – Entrepreneurship in rural areas
Leader Neighborhood now provides the opportunity to apply for project support to carry out a sub-activity in our umbrella project "Mini-Support - Entrepreneurship in the countryside".
FOR WHOM?
If you want to start a business or already have a business, you can apply for up to SEK 40,000 in support to implement your project idea.
WHERE?
Anywhere in the municipalities: Hammarö, Grums, Kil, Forshaga, Kristinehamn, Storfors and Filipstad, as well as in Karlstad excluding urban area.
FOR WHAT?
Your project should in some way be aimed at developing entrepreneurship in rural areas.
This can involve efforts such as marketing, training, product development, etc. The project must be innovative for you – we do not provide support for regular operations. We cannot provide support for salary costs or investments (i.e. purchases of physical assets that exceed SEK 24,000 excluding VAT and that have a lifespan of at least 3 years).
What is an Umbrella Project?
In an umbrella project, it is possible to seek support to implement a slightly smaller project.. We distribute money – ”Mini-grants” – to sub-activities that fit into the umbrella project, and you can apply for a maximum of SEK 40,000 for your idea. (NB: We cannot provide support for regular operations, ongoing operations and maintenance, operations/activities that are already underway or things you would have done anyway without our support.)
Easier administration and faster decision-making processes should make it easier to go from idea to action, compared to running an entire project on your own. Leader Närheten is therefore the main project owner in this umbrella project, and welcomes everyone who wants to carry out sub-projects in Hammarö, Grums, Kil, Forshaga, Storfors, Filipstad and Kristinehamn as well as in Karlstad municipality excluding urban areas to apply to us.

The process briefly: Once we have received your application – or if you have questions first – we will help you further, and we may ask for some clarifications before we can decide to approve your project. Remember that you must be completely clear about what you need to buy in your project and how much it will cost – so check the pricing information and save them to the application. We are happy to help with how to fill out the application, just ask!
Once you have been approved, you can get started with the project! We will then go through what you need to know and think about during the project. When everything is ready, you will report to us.
We will help you with how it works from start to finish!

About the umbrella project
Mini-support – Entrepreneurship in rural areas
Leader Neighbourhood offers mini-support in the form of sub-activities to strengthen entrepreneurial development in rural areas. The project is aimed at existing entrepreneurs who intend to diversify their business and those who intend to start a new business, the hope is that some social enterprise will also be created. We have identified the latter as a major challenge as there has been very little interest so far during the programme period and a difficult concept to define. The project is aimed at small companies within the entire Leader Neighbourhood geographical catchment area, with the exception of the Karlstad urban area. The applicant companies must have a maximum of 10 employees. The support can be up to SEK 40,000 and the initiative itself may include a maximum of SEK 100,000. The company itself must contribute at least 30% in private co-financing. The support can go to various initiatives for, for example, business development, skills development, product development, certifications and marketing, but not to salary costs or investments. The umbrella project consists only of sub-activities; there is a supporting project that handles the administration linked to the umbrella project.
Mini-support – entrepreneurship in rural areas is a LAG-owned umbrella project within SP 2023-2027 and the Leader Neighbourhood focus area Entrepreneurship and business development.
Linked to the umbrella project, the project "Support Project: Mini-Support for Rural Entrepreneurship" is also being run, which enables administration and support in the implementation of the sub-activities in the umbrella project. The purpose of both projects is to increase the achievement of goals in our strategy and make it easier for idea carriers to implement smaller projects and initiatives that strengthen local entrepreneurship.
The goal is to administer the umbrella project and distribute support to at least 15 sub-activities that promote entrepreneurship within the Leader Neighbourhood area.
The activities in the support project are project management, distribution of support to sub-activities, administration, processing, information dissemination, project coaching, meetings and reporting. The activities in the umbrella project are sub-activities that in some way promote entrepreneurship in the area.
