This is how it goes

Always start by contacting the leader office. We can help develop and realize your idea! Briefly describe your idea and provide contact information and we will get back to you shortly. We at the office will guide you through the entire application process.

Four steps to your project

A project is a process with four different steps. To begin with, there must be a development idea, something that can be refined and summarized into a concrete project, and a formal project application must be written. Then, if approved, the project must be implemented according to the terms and regulations that exist. Finally, the project must be concluded and a final report must be submitted.

Step 1

Getting started

Leader projects are intended to promote local development at grassroots level and are largely based on cooperation and commitment. Start by looking at our local development strategy, where you will find more information about the Leader method and what types of measures are prioritized in our areas of focus. Does your idea fit in? Contact the Leader office for guidance or start filling out a expression of interest. Please note that the project needs to fit into one of our areas of focus and that all basic conditions must be met for the project to proceed in the selection process.

Step 2

Writing an application

If your idea is in line with the Leader Neighbourhood Development Strategy, the office asks you to submit an application. The application is made digitally in the Swedish Board of Agriculture's e-service.

When the application is complete, the project must be presented to our board, called the LAG (Local Action Group), which will then make a score assessment according to the selection criteria and decide whether to ”prioritize” the project, i.e. that the LAG advocates an approval from the Swedish Board of Agriculture.

The office processes the application and when everything is complete, we forward the matter to the Swedish Board of Agriculture for further processing, approval and formal decision.

We also recommend that you plan your project start at least ten months after the current decision-making meeting in our board. This is so that you have time to receive the formal decision from the Swedish Board of Agriculture, which has long waiting times.

Step 3

Implement

If the decision is positive, it's time to get started! In connection with this, the office will offer simple project training - so that during the implementation process you will have an overview of what is required to succeed with the project report that will then be submitted to the Swedish Board of Agriculture.

Step 4

End

When the project is fully completed, you must submit a financial report and a description of the project's implementation and results when you submit your final project report. Here you report and evaluate the activities carried out and how you achieved the project's goals.

Below you can see a flowchart of the application process.
You can read clarifications on concepts that we use in the application process by clicking on the "Clarifications" button. Please read them through.
The flowchart and clarifications give you an overall picture of how the process works.
