The EU cannot afford to leave rural areas behind
The international network ELARD in Europe has started a petition with the aim of Leader continuing to be part of EU development policy.
The petition calls on the European Commission to:
- Making LEADER/CLLD a cornerstone of EU rural policy
- Allocate a specific budget
- Simplify rules
- Recognizing local action groups (LAGs) as essential partners in the work on democracy, cohesion and resilience
Goal: 1 million signatures
Once a million names have been collected, the European Commission must take up the issue for decision – for example as a citizens' initiative.
