The Värmland recipe pantry

A collaborative project to preserve and make accessible a cultural treasure: old Värmland recipes.

About the project

The project will locate, document and disseminate old Värmland recipes. The recipes will then be available for use by food companies, food artisans, non-profit associations and the local tourism industry, as well as by private individuals interested in Värmland's food culture.
Through a previous leader project, Historisk Värmländsk Mat, the applicant has come into contact with a large amount of recipe material, which is currently not available to the public. Much of it is privately owned, a smaller part is in various archives where it is indeed searchable, but difficult to find. The project will secure and make this material available.

In order to cover a larger part of Värmland, this project is being carried out in collaboration with Leader 7-sam and with it, recipes will be collected from Karlstad, Eda, Kil, Hagfors, Säffle, Hammarö, Kristinehamn, Sunne, Arvika, Torsby, Munkfors, Grums, Filipstad, Storfors, Årjäng and Forshaga.

The purpose of the project is to secure historical material in the form of Värmland's food culture, and make it available to the public, for the benefit of food artisans, the tourism industry, interested associations and private individuals.

The goal of the project is that at least 350 local recipes have been documented and disseminated through
the project's channels. The material has also been handed over for physical archiving and management.

The project consists of

  • Contact with relevant stakeholders
  • Site visits and documentation of the recipes
  • Work on organizing and making the material available
  • Launch of the website
  • Information and project administration
