vänerresource
A collaborative project on sustainable development for Lake Vänern's fishing and tourism industry issues.
About the project
Vänern is Europe's third largest lake and is very important for both tourism, recreational and professional fishing. Activities in Vänern provide opportunities, stimulate development and at the same time create difficulties and threats when, for example, fishing pressure becomes too high – a concrete example is the pike fishing which has increased dramatically in recent years. For Vänern to continue to function with its marine and biological diversity for future generations, it is extremely important that there is coordination and continuous work for sustainable use of Vänern.
This has become relevant for the leader areas with a shoreline against Vänern to look together against the background that the Fishing Area Vänern can no longer carry out its work within locally led development – something they have previously done successfully – that work must be managed.
The purpose of the project is to conduct a current situation and future analysis of Vänern's fishing and tourism issues. Through a project implementation in collaboration between the leader areas, analyze how the situation looks for tourism, recreational fishing and professional fishing, and which future issues should be prioritized, as well as work with Vänern-wide specific issues related to tourism, professional fishing and recreational fishing.
Project goals
– Current situation analysis of Vänern's fishing and tourism issues
– Future analysis of Vänern's fishing and tourism issues
