fearless snow eldorado
A large project carried out in collaboration with several associations and a lot of volunteer hours has yielded a fantastically successful result!
About the project
Project Frysta Snöeldorado is a development project with support and financing from Leader Närheten – with funds from the EU, the Inheritance Fund, the Värmland Sports Association, own funds from Kils Slalom Club and volunteer work hours from the club's members. The background to the development project was to renew the facility in order to attract new members, invest in new ski disciplines and offer a greater selection for visitors.
The project includes an expansion of the snowmaking system to halve the time for snowmaking and to be able to take advantage of the increasingly shorter cold periods. To increase the attraction of the facility, a collaboration has also been initiated with Kils OK and Kils Municipality, where snowmaking capacity is allocated for the cross-country trails at Frykstahöjden.
To attract a new target group, a ski cross course was built. This was to create an additional range of activities and to enable a new competition within the club. For the smallest children and beginners, a 36-meter long ski run and a completely new area were built next to the Family Ski Slope. This is a big boost as the nearest facility that offers ski runs is Branäs. For the Ski School, this creates a big advantage and the very little ones can easily get up the slope and it also saves a lot of backache for kind parents and leaders. We can now also offer a mini ski jump built from snow, in collaboration with the Swedish Ski Association's ski jumping section.
