Digital mapping tool – energy communities
About the project
With the project, the project owner wants to show how to create a more secure energy supply in rural areas through cooperative collaboration. The aim is to facilitate the opportunities to establish local energy communities and thereby produce, store, share and consume renewable energy in a cost-effective manner. There is currently a great interest in starting energy cooperatives in rural areas, which strengthens the local community and makes the best use of the resources available in the area, and thus also ensures the local energy supply. There is a need to sit together and easily calculate energy use, needs and location of production sources in order to understand what an energy community is, what it might look like and what the investment needs are. Some of these target groups will be involved, to act as pilots, in the development of the digital tool.
The goal of the project is to create a digital mapping tool that will be free of charge and that will facilitate calculations for and visualize local electricity consumption, possible production based on different energy types as well as storage and sharing of energy. In addition to the mapping tool, an information film will also be produced in the project.
