experience the norsälvdalen
The non-profit association Norsbygdens framtid has made an enormous non-profit effort by clearing out wasteland, building piers, boat ramps, barbecue areas and windbreaks, etc. to make the fine trails on land and water in Norsälvdalen accessible.
About the project
The Norsälvdalen and its surroundings are a gem that has been relatively untapped and unknown to many. The non-profit association Norsbygdens Framtid wants to take advantage of the area's potential for tourism, outdoor activities, fishing and culture, and develop the tourism industry in the area by making the environments more accessible and giving more people the opportunity to experience the beautiful nature. Among other things, more places for mooring and docking piers for boats and canoes have been created within walking distance of attractions and cultural sites, more barbecue areas and 24-hour parking spaces for trailers and cars, and a new website has been created for information and coordination. The goal is to connect different activities and associations, entrepreneurs and tourist offices in the region and develop nature tourism.
Good results and synergy effects have already been noted as an increased number of visitors to cleared hiking trails has had positive effects for nearby museums and cafes. With the project, Karlstad Municipality has recognized the area's potential and initiated a collaboration with applicants for the further development of the Norsälven as a paddle trail. Visit Värmland is interested in marketing the area, which provides further exploitation and development for the tourism industry. In the long term, we also see increased involvement in non-profit associations, both in the project owners' association and for partners and not least in the sport fishing sector and fisheries conservation associations.
